Brendan Greene, creator of the popular online shooter Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), talked about his plans for the title during a panel at PAX Aus. Even though he’s previously discussed exploring a single-player campaign, Greene says the development team lacks the resources and time required to make it happen. As such, “we have no plans to add anything like this to the game.”
He ended his statement by saying, “No, no single-player is coming to Battlegrounds.” Though he noted he’d still like to explore the game’s backstory (i.e. the history of its environment), such as through a single-player campaign, “maybe some day.”
Greene is hoping one of the things in PUBG’s future will be cross-play between PC and Xbox One.
Because the experience is going to be the same on both platforms, we really want these players to play together. How we do that fairly is another question. It’s something we’re looking into, but right now we don’t have anything to say about it. But we would like to see it happen. But how we do that requires a bit of work. – Greene
