As you can see, there are two very decent terminals, which cost less than 200 euros, something that makes them unbeatable. In addition, their changes in the design lines, bring frames without frames to this range of prices so low, which is excellent news.
Inside both terminals, we find very decent processors such as the Snapdragon 450 and the 625 in the case of the plus model. However, it would not have mattered if the Chinese firm came up, and chose to introduce the Snapdragon 660 in the Redmi 5 Plus and the 625 in the normal model. Since, at the end of the day, the only thing that changes with respect to the previous generation in the Plus model, is the screen. And this seems too little to us. As happens with the RAM in the Redmi 5, which part of 2 GB, which we know very well by the previous generation that Xiaomi does not need to do to cut price.
Of the change in the screen, obviously, we can only say wonders, Xiaomi has rightly hit by getting the 18: 9 and the reduction of frames in both terminals. But, as always there is a but, the resolution HD on the 5.7-inch screen of the Redmi 5 seems to us quite short, and we believe that the firm should have opted for Full HD +, as in the Redmi 5 Plus.
The shortcomings of always
To these few objections we have of the new Redmi, we have to add certain shortcomings of the terminals of Xiaomi that have been suffering for some generations, such as the NFC, which, to this day, seems to us something that all terminals to be able to make mobile payments.
In addition, we find striking the fact that these terminals do not already have USB Type C because it is a natural change that should not be delayed. In addition, although many users would have to renew the wiring that we currently have, it seems a change that is worth it if we consider the higher speed in the transfer of data and the convenience of being able to put the cable more conveniently, being reversible.
Even so, we still see two very good terminals, which are worth buying. Our recommendation, of course, is the Redmi 5 Plus model, due to its higher battery and screen resolution.
