QNAP Systems, Inc. today announced the release of the TS-531X – a powerful 5-bay business NAS that features two integrated 10GbE SFP+ ports, providing a cost-effective NAS solution with 10GbE connectivity. The TS-531X features Container Station, allowing users to rapidly develop and deploy IoT (Internet of Things) applications and supports VJBOD (Virtual JBOD) as an economical method for expanding the capacity of other QNAP NAS using unused storage space. The TS-531X is a versatile NAS that satisfies small/medium businesses’ demands for 10GbE connectivity, container virtualization, and storage expansion.

The TS-531X comes with an Annapurna Labs Alpine AL-341 quad-core 1.4 GHz processor by Amazon and uses 2GB/8GB DDR3 RAM (upgradable to 16GB). Offering two 1GbE ports, two built-in 10GbE SFP+ ports and SATA 6Gb/s ports for HDDs and SSD, the TS-531X can reach up to 1723MB/s throughput speeds. The model also features a hardware-accelerated encryption engine and SSD cache support, ensuring security without compromising performance.

“With its two built-in 10GbE SFP+ Ports, the TS-531X is the perfect solution for high-bandwidth applications such as high-speed file transfer and online video editing and storage,” said Jason Hsu, Product Manager of QNAP. “The TS-531X is also designed to accommodate business and virtualization applications, making it an ideal option for small/medium businesses looking for cost-effective and high-performance NAS solution.”

The TS-531X is a secure private cloud solution for SMBs. It supports cross-platform file sharing for Windows, Mac, and Linux/UNIX, serving as a useful centralized storage. Windows AD, LDAP directory services and Windows ACL are supported to improve the efficiency of permission settings. Backup, restoration and synchronization functions (via RTRR, Rsync, FTP or CIFS/SMB) are also integrated into the Hybrid Backup Sync app, allowing users to efficiently synchronize their backup tasks to other QNAP NAS, remote servers and cloud storage.

The TS-531X provides a wide range of excellent applications to boost productivity. Container Station brings advanced virtualization technologies and provides QIoT Containers to transform the TS-531X into a private IoT cloud platform for rapid IoT stack development. QNAP’s proprietary full-text search engine, Qsirch, allows files to be quickly found and supports searching through .eml files stored on the NAS. It also provides the Qsirch Helper extension (for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox), allowing users to search for files on their TS-531X when using Google Search. QmailAgent allows users to centrally manage multiple email accounts from popular email services and IMAP servers. Qcontactz allows for the centralization of contact information, providing greater organization of business networking resources.

The TS-531X is easily expandable to meet growing data requirements. Users can connect up to two expansion enclosures (UX-800P or UX-500P) to the TS-531X to maximize storage space. With VJBOD (Virtual JBOD) support, users can also leverage the TS-531X to expand the storage space of other QNAP NAS and create virtual storage pools and volumes on virtual disks for operating NAS services.
