Overwatch has already made Activision Blizzard over $1 billion in revenue, according to its Q1 2017 earnings report, making it the publisher’s fastest-growing franchise. The title has 30 million registered players and most of those are playing at least monthly.
With this revenue milestone, Overwatch has become the eighth Activision Blizzard title to generate over $1 billion.
It played a major role in the company’s strong quarterly financial performance, says CEO Bobby Kotick. In-game content sales increased 25% year-on-year, with much of that change attributable to the sale of loot boxes within Overwatch.
