As the October 19 launch date of the OPPO R9S draws nearer, the features of the device are coming out clearer and it turns the R9S would likely be one cool device. The device recently appeared on AnTuTu benchmark, gifting us a peek at some of the specs it would pack. Now OPPO has come out via a Weibo post to reveal that the R9S would feature a slot antenna.
According to the Weibo post, the OPPO R9S would come with a slot antenna design consisting of three slots at the upper edge of the metallic body at the back. A render of the device in a cool pink color variant was also revealed with the antenna band lines in tow showing the slot design. This design is similar to that adopted by Apple on the iPhone 7. The design comes in such a way that handling the phone won’t disrupt the antenna signals and also it retains the beauty of the device. Antenna bands are often a problem for phones using all-metal body because metals disrupt the signals, so manufacturers must find a way to get the antenna bands from under the metal. Plastic built smartphones do not have this problem.
The OPPO R9S has as its main selling point the Sony IMX398 sensor it is packing along with a 16MP front and rear camera setup but sure the design of the device is turning out to be one of its attractive features. The phone is also revealed to come with a dual-core focus, as well as f1.7 aperture on the camera end. In other likely specs, there is a 4GB RAM alongside 64GB of built-in storage, support for VOOC fast charge and a Snapdragon 625 chipset firing things up.
In addition, the OPPO R9S is already up for official pre-order or reservations as it is called in China. You can be among the first to do that by visiting the Pre-order page. The device is likely to carry a price tag of 2999 yuan.
