According to a latest rumor out of China, the Oppo Find 9 may finally become a reality this year, with a launch expected sometime in the first half of 2017. The launch timeframe has reportedly been confirmed by an Oppo executive at a recent shopping guide forum.

The Oppo Find 9, when launched, will succeed the Oppo Find 7 from 2014. Interestingly, the Find 7 was the Chinese manufacturer’s last “true” flagship, boasting of class-leading specs at the time of launch. All subsequent “flagships” from the company haven’t really been on par with true flagships from other manufacturers in terms of specs.

As for the Oppo Find 9, we still do not have a clear idea of what to expect from the handset, but if earlier rumors are to be believed, it will be a beast in terms of specs. The smartphone is rumored to feature a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with 1440 x 2560 Quad HD resolution and run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core chipset. The flagship SoC is going to be paired with a whopping 8GB of RAM and a rather impressive 128GB onboard storage. A more affordable version has been rumored as well, with the Snapdragon 653 SoC under the hood, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. Both smartphones could debut with Oppo’s new Find OS, which is likely to be based on the latest Android Nougat platform.
