Back in 2016, Opera Software announced a free VPN service called Opera Max that aimed to compress data to lower data usage and block trackers and other undesirable connections. Unfortunately, the app is now officially discontinued and removed from Google Play Store.
The company didn’t say why they have decided to discontinue the Android app and remove it from the Google Play except that they want to focus on other services. Those that still have the app can continue using it until Opera decides to terminate the server-side support.
Opera has now decided to discontinue Opera Max. The product had a substantially different value proposition than our browser products, and represented a different focus for Opera. We, therefore, focus on our browsers and other upcoming services.
