Google Daydream virtual reality platform was announced earlier this year and at the moment, only Google Pixel and Pixel XL are the two phones on the market that are capable of running Daydream. That is going to change very soon and Google has now outlined the requirements that future devices will need to meet in order to properly run the Daydream platform.
The requirements have been mentioned in detail in the updated Android Compatibility Definition Document for Android 7.0 Nougat. The first thing phones must meet is a display between 4.7 and 6-inches in size with at least 1080p resolution, while Google “strongly recommends” at least Quad HD.
Other requirements include at least dual-core CPU, a sustained performance mode, support for Vulkan Hardware Level 0, HEVC, and VP9.
