OnePlus already confirmed that they plan to announce a new flagship smartphone later today that will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 SoC. The company didn’t want to comment on the rest of the specifications, but that doesn’t mean we don’t know them.
There have been plenty of rumours about the upcoming handset, but it looks like the company made improvements only under the hood. The recent teaser image confirms that the chassis design and camera position will remain the same.
The company has hard time to source sufficient quantities of the AMOLED display used on the OnePlus 3, but they still don’t want to make a move to LCD, which is confirmed by OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei.
The phone is rumoured to pack 8 GB of RAM, making it the world’s first smartphone with that much RAM. The battery size is rumoured to be around 3,500 mAh and 4,000 mAh, and the rear camera sensor uses Sony’s IMX398 16 MP. The last thing we know about the specs is it will be running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
As for the pricing, all those improvements have also increased the price tag. Although Oppomart listed the phone priced at $499, the official price tag is expected to be $479.
