Keeping its promise, OnePlus has started to roll out the Android 7.0 Nougat based OxygenOS 4.0 update for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphones. The Android N stable OTA for both the handsets is being rolled out gradually, so it should take a few days for most of you to see the update show up on your handset. Only a small number of OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T owners are expected to receive the update today.

The key changes included with the Android 7.0 Nougat update for both handsets include a new notifications design, new settings menu design, multi-window view for seamless multitasking, notification direct reply, custom DPI support, added status bar icon options, and improved shelf customization. In addition to the above changes, you can also look forward to the usual Nougat features such as added emojis, improved Doze mode for better battery life, and more.

Being a major update, it is highly recommended that you download the OTA update only when your OnePlus 3 or OnePlus 3T is connected to a Wi-Fi network. While the exact size of the OTA update isn’t known at this point, it is likely to be greater than 1GB. Another thing to keep in mind is to make sure your smartphone has at least 50% battery charge left before you proceed to install the update. Installing a major update with low battery charge is a risky affair, as your smartphone might get bricked in case the battery dies before the OTA update can be installed completely.
