Rugged smartphones still stay afloat. I can’t say they all are used only by those who like rock climbing, work in mine, prefer an adventure life or are just a clumsy, but rubbed smartphones are demanded and we have to return to them time to time. Recently, we were reviewing the Uhans A101 that is known as the cheapest rugged handset. But it looks like a standard handset. I mean there are rugged smartphones with different design like the Doogee T5 / T3, Conquest S8, Homtom HT20, Ken Xin Da W6 or Blackview BV6000. In this sense, when it comes to solid handsets, the first thing coming to our minds is the design. People think a rugged smartphone should look oddly. And I have to say there is a crumb of truth in these words. Of course, almost all high-end smartphones come with IP67 or IP68 certificate making them water – and drop-resistant, but their overall design and housing can’t resist many disasters. So the manufacturers just have to make them look so. The device we are going to look closer sports unordinary design and comes in with an eye-catching look. It’s the Oeina Tank S6. No matter how military it sounds and looks as we are dealing with an interesting piece of tech priced quite attractive.

Oeina Tank S6 Design

When it comes to the design of this phone you shouldn’t wait to see an elegant smartphone with rounded corners, narrow bezels and a metal housing that we used to see on business handsets. The Oeina Tank S6 body is made of metal as well as the bezels. The latter is attached to the back panel via 8 screws that are seen and the manufacturer even didn’t try to hide them. As a result, the Tank S6 looks technical. It hints at its rugged nature.

The back panel carries the primary camera paired with a led flash, and both of them come with an aluminum frame. The bottom part of the back panel displays the name and the model number of the device. But the most attractive part of this handset is the texture of the rear panel – as the name suggests it is designed for those who like military accessories and gadgets. The Oeina Tank S6 sports a camouflage textured back panel. The latter is a fashion trend for the recent years, and I guess many will bet at this when buying the Oeina Tank S6.

Unlike the back side, the front panel looks more classic. You can find there a 5-inch screen at a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, three touch buttons below it, and a front camera above the screen that is accompanied with a standard set of sensors and a speaker. The screen comes at an acceptable size, but the resolution that is called Full Wide Video Graphics Array is lower than a regular Android smartphone comes at. The 3.5mm audio jack is located on the top, while the micro USB port placed on the bottom side. Plus, there is also a hole carrying a SIM card a TF card slots. It’s covered with a special plastic tab. The aluminum power button and volume rocker are on the left side that is a bit surprising, because phones with such structure are used difficultly by one hand. Anyway, the sides have different holes and notches that should be an ideal place for collecting dust, but they should add the ruggedness of the phone as well.

At last, the Oeina Tank S6 comes at dimensions of 15.00 x 7.50 x 1.20 cm, thus it is a bit bulky in comparison to other similar handsets, and it weighs 191 grams, which is felt when holding the phone in hands. There are also three color options to choose from – green, black and white. But the selling point (the camouflage texture) remains the same for all three models.

Oeina Tank S6 Features

Well, we have also managed to catch the main idea of the manufacturer to come in with such a device. But what can this handset do. It turns out the Tank S6 is packed with hardware found on low-end devices and this statement is true for the software as well. Look, it is equipped with a MTK6580 quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz and paired with a Mali-400 MP, 512MB RAM and 8GB ROM that can be expanded up to 64GB due to a TF card slot, if you decide to scarify the second SIM card slot for this purpose. Thus the performance provided by the Oeina Tank S6 is not something you can bet at. I mean the manufacturer has packed the phone with the weakest features known for these days, so you can implement only main operations and nothing more. On the other hand no one has been expected to see top-notch specs on this device, because people don’t buy camouflage designed phones to play heavy games or watch 4K videos. If you want your phone to sport such feature, be ready to fork out. Plus, you can buy a camouflage bumper for your high-end smartphone be done with it.

The rest of features include a 2MP camera with flash, though I don’t know whether the presence of a flash light will help the phone, a 0.3MP front camera, and a 2000mAh battery. As for the connectivity, the Oeina Tank S6 supports 3G, Bluetooth, GPS and WiFi 802.11b/g/n. Thus there is everything not to get lost.

Oeina Tanks S6 Availability and Final Words

The Oeina Tank S6 has a menacing look, but it is a fragile inside. So the main purpose of this phone is providing safe and stable usage of your phone in unpredictable situations. So this handset is an ideal variant when it comes to buying rugged smartphone with a camouflage look. At last, the phone costs accordingly – it is available for only $72.99.
