Following the new problems with Galaxy Note 7 units, Oculus has decided to disable Gear VR over safety fears. The Facebook-owned company has disabled its app from working with the Galaxy Note 7, and until further notice, the phone won’t be compatible with Gear VR.
Although the VR headset no longer supports the Galaxy Note 7, some users are reporting that the new update has caused to disable support for other phones as well and they can no longer use their Gear VR headsets. The headset should support five other Samsung devices, including the Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, S6, S6 Edge and Note 5. Will let you know once Samsung and Oculus issue an official statement.
