Responding to a question on Twitter, NVIDIA has now confirmed that they are not working on new Android updates for SHIELD Tablet and Tablet K1. To clarify, the tablets won’t receive Android 8.0 Oreo update, but new updates with some bug fixes and maybe new features will be released.
Given that NVIDIA Shield Tablet made its debut in Q3 2014 and the Tablet K1 went on sale in November 2015, it makes sense for NVIDIA not to waste its resources and develop another major Android OS update for the two tablets.
