In hopes of re-entering the U.S. market with a bang, Nokia showed off its Lumia 900 at the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The Lumia 900 is the first Windows Phone-based model with high-speed LTE connectivity. The phone will be available exclusively through AT&T in cyan and matte black.
The Nokia Lumia 900 has a 4.3-inch AMOLED ClearBlack Display, an 1830 mAH battery, and a primary camera with Carl Zeiss optics and a wide-angle lens. The Nokia Lumia 900 also offers a front-facing camera for video calling.
“The Nokia Lumia 900 is designed specifically with the U.S. in mind and the announcement of this collaboration with AT&T, in addition to other recent announcements, signifies a new dawn for Nokia in the U.S.,” said Chris Weber, president of Nokia Americas.
Lumia 900 Apps
Nokia and AT&T aren’t resting on hardware and network alone. Jeff Bradley, senior vice president of devices for AT&T, said his company is working with Nokia to “supercharge the ecosystem around the Nokia Lumia 900 and the Windows Phone platform.”
It will come with content in place, including the AT&T U-verse mobile app that lets U-verse TV subscribers browse the U-verse TV program guide, schedule and manage DVR recordings, and watch more than 100 TV series and more than 700 TV shows.
Meanwhile, consumers can download Nokia Drive from the Windows Phone Marketplace. Nokia Drive offers free voice-guided, turn-by-turn navigation with a dedicated in-car user interface that turns the Nokia Lumia 900 into a GPS navigation device. An ESPN sports hub comes preloaded, and a CNN app offers the latest news and direct access to iReport.
