Nokia 8 Flagship Phone Supposedly Arriving in June in Two Si…

HMD Global introduced two new Nokia smartphones during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, but neither was a flagship. A new rumor surfaced, saying that a Nokia flagship will arrive in June and will run the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835.

The date would make sense, considering that Samsung has dibs on the initial production of SD835, which means that other devices running the same chipset would launch from late May to early June. Sony Xperia XZ Premium also runs SD835 and is expected to arrive around the same time.

The rumors come from China (via PocketNow) and go on to say that the upcoming Nokia 8 flagship might be made available in two variants, with different display sizes and perhaps similar or even identical specs.

4GB or 6GB of RAM and 23MP rear cameras

The upcoming Nokia 8 is said to come with 4GB or 6GB of RAM, depending on the variant. One model of the Nokia 8 might have a dual-camera setup on the back with 23MP sensors, but they won’t be from PureView or Carl Zeiss.

Nokia officials have recently stated that PureView sensors will no longer be used on Nokia-branded phones, as being one of the things that Microsoft opted to keep when it sold the phone business to HMD. Regardless, with such rumored specs, the upcoming Nokia 8 will surely take on big players in the smartphone market, like the Galaxy S8 and even Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus.

Rumors also say that the two models will have different prices, the standard model will sell for about $579 or €549, while the bigger variant could go for at least $652 or €617. Previous rumors mentioned that the phone could come with Quad HD resolution and Super AMOLED display, while internal storage could reach 64GB or 128GB. Take this information with a handful of salt, as nothing is certain until the phone is officially announced.
