One of the most exciting MWC 2017 press conferences was that of Nokia’s. The Finnish company had some interesting stuff to share with its fans and the whole world, but more importantly it marked Nokia’s official comeback on the smartphone market.

Although HMD Global has already launched a Nokia-branded smartphone in China earlier this year, the fact that it was only available in one country didn’t felt like Nokia is really back.

Today, HMD and Nokia joined forces to announce three new phones, which will be available for purchase starting Q2 2017: Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and the Modern Nokia 3310.

The most expensive of the three, Nokia 5 is a compact smartphone that will be available in four colors: Matte Black, Silver, Tempered Blue and Copper. The phone will sell globally for only €189 outright.

Nokia 5 sports a 5.2-inch IPS HD (720p) display covered with Corning Gorilla Glass coating. On the inside, the smartphone packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, an Adreno 505 graphics processing unit, 2GB RAM and 16GB of expandable memory.

The mid-range smartphone comes with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash, a 5-megapixel camera in the front. Nokia 5 is powered by a 3,000 mAh non-removable battery since the phone is sculpted from a single block of 6000 series aluminum.

The Nokia 3 is a much cheaper version of the 5, as the phone features a smaller 5-inch HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass coating. In order to keep the price on the low side, HMD included a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor, coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB expandable storage.

The phone is powered by a 2,650 mAh battery and comes with multiple connectivity features including LTE Cat.4, microUSB 2.0 (USB OTG), Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Near Field Connectivity (NFC) and built-in GPS.

HMD Global confirmed that its Nokia 3 smartphones will retail at an average global price of €139. It will be available in four color options: Silver White, Matte Black, Tempered Blue and Copper White.

Both Nokia 3 and 5 ship with Android 7.0 Nougat operating system right out of the box. Nokia did not added any UI (user interface) of its own, so you’ll be getting the pure Android experience.

Last but not least, the modern Nokia 3310 is a re-imagined version of one of the most beloved feature phones launched on the market.

The new version of the dumb phone is lighter and thinner than the original model. It sport s a 2.4-inch QVGA display and 16MB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.

On the back, the modern Nokia 3310 features a 2-megapixel camera with LED flash. The phone’s 1,200 removable battery should provide up to 22 hours of talk time or up to a month of standby time.

Other highlights of the feature phone include: microUSB 2.0, Bluetooth 3.0 with SLAM, Series 30+ UI, FM Radio and 3.5mm audio jack port.

The Modern Nokia 3310 will be available in Warm Red and Yellow, both with a gloss finish, and Dark Blue and Grey both with a matte finish. It will sell globally for only €49 outright.
