NexDock shipments resuming soon

The NexDock is an interesting device which transforms your Windows 10 Mobile device into a laptop through Continuum, and one which surprisingly made its way rather rapidly to market recently.

It however ran into issues where the first batch of the device had power problems, and would not work off a power supply, which was an even bigger issue due to the power cord being very short.

The NexDock team notes:

Our ODM figured out the exact reason of the problem. As it turns out, some of the PCBA’s have defective resistor and capacitor, which cause the problem when certain devices are connected to NexDocks. We are currently working with the ODM on a few alternatives to come up with the most efficient way to rectify the situation. Those backers who experienced the same problem of powering up their units while not plugged into AC outlet should open a help desk ticket under the “My Account” menu to receive updates. In the following days, we will keep posted all affected backers that have an open help desk ticket.

All the stock not sent out needed to be examined for this issue. This process is now complete, and NexDock expects shipments to resume next week, and be completed within 3 weeks.

In an update they write:

Finally, all NexDocks, including the ones that were put on hold, have been inspected in Shenzhen. They are now ready to be shipped to our freight forwarder in Hong Kong for international distribution. Sorting, labeling shipment addresses, etc. of more than 2000 units for 60 different countries will obviously take some time.

You should start receiving your emails with tracking numbers beginning the middle of next week and during the following 15 days. We believe that everyone should receive their unit(s) by the 3rd week of September.

As an early purchaser I look forward to receiving my dock, which can serve double purpose as an extra battery-powered screen for your laptop.

Have any of our readers received their device yet? Let us know your experience below.
