NES Classic Edition Sold 196K Units In US Last Month

207

It’s no wonder the NES Classic Edition sold out in the United States. NPD Group reports Nintendo sold around 196,000 units of the system just in November. It sells for $60 and includes an NES Classic Controller and 30 original NES games. All of those sales occurred in about 2.5 weeks since the device launched on November 11.

Due to the high demand for the console, the NES Classic remains hard to find a month after its release. Units were listed for much higher prices on eBay and many sold. If the demand had been adequately met, Nintendo probably would have seen far more sales.

Every day there’s more going into the retail channel. The overall level of demand is certainly greater than we anticipated, that’s why we’re suffering through the shortages out there in the marketplace. – Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America
