Mushkin announces its first gaming keyboard

202

Computer memory leader Mushkin is expanding into the peripherals market with the announcement of its very first gaming keyboard, the Carbon KB-001. A prototype of the Carbon KB-001 was shown off to the press at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017 in Las Vegas earlier this month.

The Mushkin Carbon KB-001 is made out of CNC and aircraft-grade anodized brushed aluminum, justifying its premium positioning. As can be seen in the image below, the frameless design certainly looks pretty. There is a small wrist rest along the bottom, which happens to be of the non-attachable variety. As expected from a premium gaming keyboard, the Carbon KB-001 does feature per-key RGB LED illumination. A variant with monochrome lighting will also be offered apparently.

Mushkin is using Kailh Brown switches on the Carbon KB-001, although it hasn’t clarified yet if the keyboard will be available with other switch options in the future. Key features of the gaming keyboard include 104 key Rollover, 100% anti-ghosting, double fiberglass PCB design, ergonomic key design, Windows Key lock, and a braided fiber cable.

Mushkin hasn’t revealed the complete specifications of the Carbon KB-001 yet, so we will need to wait slightly longer to find out more about the company’s first gaming keyboard. Pricing and availability info too haven’t been shared yet, which means it isn’t clear when Mushkin plans to start selling this new keyboard.
