Motorola is still working to bring many of its smartphones to Android Nougat, something that not many handset makers were able to do. However, as soon as the next year starts, the US-based company is likely to shift its focus on launching new smartphones on the market.
One of the first Motorola smartphones to make its debut next year is likely to be the Moto X (2017), which is expected to be a high-end product. The Moto X (2017) hasn’t even been announced by Motorola, but the first images of the device have just been leaked online.
From what we can tell, the Moto X (2017) doesn’t look like a high-end smartphone, but more like a mid-range device. Still, this is just assumption based on the pictures that have been leaked today, so the final product may look slightly different.
According to AndroidAuthority, the Moto X (2017) should measure 150 x 73.8 x 8.4mm (9.5mm with camera bump). This means it will be thicker than the Moto X and Moto Z Force, which are 5.2mm and 7mm thin, respectively.
We’ve also learned the Moto X (2017) will features a smaller 5.2-inch display rather than the 5.5-inch panels included on the Moto Z models mentioned earlier.
It’s also worth mentioning Motorola won’t include a dual-lens camera setup on the Moto X (2017), and there won’t be any stereo speakers inside the upcoming smartphone.
Motorola clearly won’t use a dual-edge curved display for the Moto X (2017), unless these pictures are showing a different phone. Although many handset makers are trying to completely remove the bezels or make them as thin as possible, we can’t say the same thing about the Moto X (2017).
As far as hardware goes, there are no details on the chipset inside the Moto X (2017) or the amount of memory. The only other thing we’ve notices is the presence of both the USB Type-C port and 3.5mm audio jack.
Motorola is expected to announce the Moto X (2017) sometime in Q1 2017, probably at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in late February.
