Starting this week, Motorola USA is selling its Moto Z Play smartphone for $399.99 – $50 off the original $449.99 price. We’re talking about the unlocked Moto Z Play here (which can be used on AT&T and T-Mobile), not about the Verizon-exclusive Moto Z Play Droid.
While it’s true that the Moto Z Play has been included in various promos and offers before, this time, the price cut is valid for a month. Motorola says that the handset, which offers up to 2 days of battery life, will cost $399.99 from now and through February 13.
Retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, and B&H have also cut the phone’s price by $50. However, if you want to take advantage of Moto Maker and customize the handset’s look with a swappable back (starting at $19.99), you must buy it directly from Motorola – see the source link at the end of this article.
Unlike the more expensive Moto Z and Moto Z Force, both of which have been updated to Android 7 Nougat, the Moto Z Play still runs Android 6 Marshmallow. But an update to Nougat will likely arrive in the coming months, so we’d say that $399.99 is not an unwise investment if you’re in need of a decent smartphone with long battery life.
