MIRDC working on communication standards for LED equipment
Siu Han, Taipei; Adam Hwang, DIGITIMES [Friday 21 October 2016]

Taiwan government-sponsored Metal Industries Research & Development Center (MIRDC), under the auspices of Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, has drawn up a draft communication protocol for LED manufacturing equipment, according to MIRDC.

The communication protocol provides standards and specifications for communication between LED manufacturing equipment and factories’ main computers to facilitate Big Data analysis to hike automation of production or minimize human errors in production, MIRDC said.

With international communication standards for semiconductor production as reference, MIRDC has selected the standards that are applicable to LED manufacturing to draw up the draft communication protocol and hopes to come up with the final version as soon as the end of 2016, the organization indicated.
