Microsoft is working to bring together the Xbox One and other Windows 10 devices, but what console modder Ben Heck managed to do is to literally merge them into just a single device.
The so-called Xbox One S laptop is essentially an Xbox One console that got converted to a notebook using a series of hardware modifications.
As you could easily guess, this isn’t the kind of thing the average Joe can do and there’s just a small chance you can repeat the transformation on your own because, as you can see for yourselves in the video, it all involves advanced skills and hardware knowledge to reposition parts under the hood.
Ben Heck has created his own custom aluminum base, and in order to fit the Xbox One hardware in the case, parts needed to be moved around a little bit, which also required soldering them to function properly.

The modder also spent a considerable amount of time to improve the cooling system, as a new case would also need better cooling, so he replaced the coolers with smaller ones that can fit in the case without compromising their performance.
Additionally, a new power supply was added because the laptop features not only the hardware of the Xbox, but also a screen, so the new unit needs to power them both at the same time.
“Ben assembles an Xbox One S Laptop using parts from a previous teardown of an Xbox One S. The new laptop includes 3D printed parts, an aluminum base cut with a CNC machine, a new power supply to power both the Xbox and LCD screen, and smaller fans powered by a rigged circuit using a Tip 102,” the description of the video reveals.
As far as portability is concerned, this isn’t quite the kind of laptop you’d want to carry around, but it does have a pretty premium look.
