We reported in August that many Surface customers have been complaining their tablets and laptops have been struggling pointless thermal throttling.
Microsoft’s Surface Pro 6 and Surface Book 2 reportedly dropping to 400 MHz clock charges (from 1.6 GHz) following a seemingly botched firmware replace. In addition, the units weren’t using Intel’s Turbo Boost know-how, which means efficiency was all the time removed from optimum.
The concern seems to be resulting from an erroneously set CPU flag referred to as BD PROCHOT (bi-directional processor scorching), which tells the processor to throttle down resulting from excessive system temperatures.
Microsoft then acknowledged the problem, and promised an answer, saying:
