Microsoft Reveals Project Scorpio Specifications – 12 G…

202

As rumoured, Microsoft has finally revealed the specifications of its upcoming Xbox Project Scorpio gaming console. On paper, the console really looks impressive as most of the upcoming games will run at a native 4K resolution and at 60 frames per second.

The heart of the console is an all-new AMD GPU with a custom Jaguar-based processor that has eight custom x86 cores clocked at 2.3 GHz. The new cores are 31% faster than the ones in the Xbox One. The GPU features 40 customized compute units compared to just 12 on the Xbox One, clocked at an impressive 1172 MHz, again compared to Xbox One GPU’s 853 MHz clock speed.

Microsoft opted for 12 GB of DDR5 memory instead of the 8 GB DDR3/32 MB ESRAM, which features impressive 326 GB/s memory bandwidth. The console has a 2.5-inch 1 TB hard drive and a 4K UHD Blu-ray optical drive.

Most of the 900p and 1080p Xbox One games will be able to run at native 4K resolution on this console, and all existing games will receive a noticeable performance improvement. Last but not least is a vapor-chamber cooling system and an integrated power supply.
