Windows 10 will receive a significant interface appearance update later this year with “Project Neon.” MSPowerUser reports the updated UI comes with some animations and transparency/blur effects like those from Windows 7’s Aero Glass.

One of the changes, called “acrylic,” places blur effects on app windows and sidebars. The acrylic look will change based on what’s behind it. This is part of an overall effect known as “conscious UI,” which refers to design elements responding to their relation to other elements.

Not all of the effects and animations have been detailed. So far, MSPowerUser says the animations are “stupendously smooth,” so they hopefully won’t be annoying.
