Microsoft has been rumoured to be focusing on improving Windows 10 Mobile in Redstone 2 and 3 updates reportedly slated for release next Spring/Fall respectively ever since the firm admitted at Build 2016 that it would not be focusing on Windows 10 on the small screen this year. While details on the features to be revealed in the new update have been scarce – with some exceptions – Microsoft is opening up at Ignite and sharing some of their roadmaps for the Enterprise.
As many know, Continuum is Microsoft’s vision of mobile computing – at least for businesses and business users – and the firm shared some details of their future plans with Neowin.
In terms of features, Microsoft is adding a much-needed feature to Continuum, the ability to use Continuum on a screen while your phone screen is shut off. While this is currently capable with the HP Elite x3, other devices like the Lumia 950 have yet to unlock this capability, one which would make Continuum run easier on the battery.
That’s not all, Microsoft is also investing in making Continuum feel like a real PC environment, and that includes adding support for features like multi-window (yes!) and the keeping distinct layouts for the Continuum Start Menu and your Windows 10 Mobile Start Screen. If you really want to mimic your full PC experience, you can also pin your apps to the taskbar – a feature enabled by the new update.
