Recently, Microsoft started testing 64-bit support for Office apps on macOS with Office Insiders. Today, the company has rolled out support for 64-bit to all Office apps on the Mac. This means, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote now support 64-bit on the Mac. According to Microsoft, this will introduce better performance across all Office apps, and allow the company to introduce new “innovative features.”

It is worth noting that users will have to update their add-ons to 64-bit versions on the Office apps. If you use an add-in, there should be a new update available for it already which supports Office’s 64-bit version — but if it isn’t, you’ll have to wait for the developer to add support for 64-bit Office.

If you use Office on your Mac, a new update should be available for the apps which will enable 64-bit support.
