After weeks of speculation, we final know when the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is going to be announced. The upcoming flagship phablet is going to be made official on October 25th, as revealed in the first official teaser posted by Xiaomi on its official Weibo account earlier today. In addition to the release date confirmation, alleged spy shots of the phablet have also surfaced online, showing an almost bezel-less design.
While we have seen a number of smartphones with close to no bezels on the sides, these new alleged images of the Mi Note 2 suggest the phablet will have a razor-thin top bezel as well, similar to the Sharp Aquos Crystal from last year.
The Mi Note 2 is expected to come in two variants, with both variants differing from one another in some ways. It is rumored that the base variant could feature a 5.7-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 821 SoC, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. The top end variant on the other hand could arrive with a Quad HD resolution display, 6GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of onboard storage. Both variants will include a 16MP primary shooter at the back and a 4000mAh capacity battery inside. We also expect to see the same Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor from the Mi 5s. Aside from its impressive hardware, the Mi Note 2 is expected to be quite impressive in the design department as well, with a svelte 6.5mm profile.
The launch event will start at 14:00 on October 25th at Peking University Gymnasium Khoo in Beijing. With just about a week left for the event, we can look forward to seeing more leaks surfacing online over the course of the next few days.
