Mercedes Launches 'Croove' Car Sharing Servic…

207

Mercedes has entered the car sharing industry with Croove, a peer-to-peer sharing service that launched in Munich this month. Croove differs from some other solutions in that it’s open to private cars from any brand. Others, such as BMW’s ReachNow, operate a fleet of cars that users can rent for periods of time.

Croove is limited to iOS for the time being. An Android app will be out soon.

You can get set up with the app just by filling out a profile for your vehicle. Your car must be “in good condition and no more than 15 years old.”

Renters need to have a license and be over the age of 21. Once the app connects you with a car, you can contact the owner and figure out how to get and return the vehicle. Users must currently receive a physical key from the owner, but Mercedes is working on PIN-based keyless alternatives.
