Meizu Won’t Launch Exynos 8890 Smartphone This Year

The rumors as Meizu will come in with two new flagships have been buzzing in the net for around two-three months. One of those devices has been said to be dubbed the Meizu Pro 6S packed with a MediaTek Helio P20 processor, while the other model is called the Meizu Pro 6 Plus and it should be packed with Samsung’s Exynos 8890 CPU. Both models have been set to be announced later this month. Surpassingly, Meizu decided not to launch the second model due to processor issues.

The news as the more advanced versions of the original Meizu Pro 6 will hit the market in a few weeks seemed quite believable, as the manufacturer has made a price cut for the Pro 6 selling it for only 2,299 yuan (~US$345). We know almost all manufacturers resort to this method when they want to empty the stores for the upcoming models. But no one says there will be more than one flagships. As for Meizu, and as of now, it turns out the manufacturer will unveil only the Pro 6S model packed with a Helio P20 processor.

Today vice president of sales and marketing at Meiz, Li Nan said there will be no Exynos 8890 CPU on their handsets this year. He even explained the reason why they had come to this – it turns out there are some problems related with the chip and the 4G network. So the company doesn’t want to take a risk.

This means, Meizu can uncover only one handset later in October, while it has been rumored should be at least 4 models – three of them should be based on Samsung’s SoC, while the fourth one should be packed with MediaTek’s processor. One of those Exynos 8890 handsets has been said to be a low-end model at an affordable price, while the Meizu Pro 6 Plus has been going to hit the market with its impressive specs list including a 5.7-inch screen. However, there is also one opportunity that Meizu will launch the Pro 6 Plus packed with other chipset. But I guess this is not much possible.
