Meizu Pro 7 May Sport Samsung Exynos 8895 Chip

Meizu is among top Chinese smartphone makers, but it is not able to make a tough competition to the top 5 due to poor performance its smartphones provide. This is mainly related with the chips it uses in its phones. As you know, Meizu handsets basically come with MediaTek chipsets. They are good but noe enough to compete with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon and Samsung’s Exynos series models. You may wonder why the Chinese manufacturer doesn’t switch to any of them. As Qualcomm is the main chip supplier for top brands, it takes too long to start a cooperation with new partners like Meizu. Moreover, currently the chip maker has real production capacity problems. Just recall the case related with the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Xiaomi Mi 6. So what Meizu has to do in such cases? May be it can switch to Samsung Exynos chips?

According to some leaks, today Meizu and Samsung will have a joint technical meeting (Tech Day). But it will not be open to public. So many think they will discuss the possible ways of cooperation. We think so. Samsung’s latest creation in face of the Exynos 8895 is capable to compete with the Snapdragon 835 that beats all the records. So Meizu may negotiate with Korean manufacturer and get this chip for its next flagship (Meizu Pro 7) instead of a Qualcomm processor. This sounds quite logic if taking into account Meizu is in a queue for getting a top-end Snapdragon processor.

Looking at the leaked documents of Meizu’s plans for 2017 we can see only one SND-powered handset from Blue Charm series that will come only in December. Plus, it’s only a Snapdragon 626, which is a mid-range chip for mid-range and non-ambitions handsets. So the next-gen Meizu Pro 7 can sport an Exynos 8895 like its predecessor, the Pro 6 Plus that is packed with an Exynos 8890.
