Meizu has become one of the most popular smartphone makers in China and in the world not accidentally. This manufacturer competes with the top brands and it has to design better handsets. Honestly, Meizu does, and though there are some users displeased with a few handsets made by this company, it has proven Meizu smartphones can sport a great design as well as a respectable specs list. However, there is one thing this manufacturer will always get criticism if nothing changes. I am talking about the processors Meizu smartphones come with. As of now, it seems Meizu will replace its CPU supplier and the upcoming flagships will be powered with Huawei CPUs.
All the latest flagships of this manufacturer have been packed with Helio CPUs, and many users have been complaining of this fact. Those who are not aware of many technical aspects were sure that Meizu should use Samsung’s Exynos 8890 chipset, which is set to be one of the most powerful processors available in the market. But it’s not as easy as eggs is eggs – it turns out Exynos 8890 doesn’t support many bands in China. On the other hand, Meizu is negotiating with Samsung to get the forthcoming Exynos chipset that is announced to support those bands. As for Samsung, it uses Qualcomm 820 processor in its Chinese versions of the Galaxy S7 and Note7 not to lose millions users in this market. So what Meizu has to do? The answer is not easy, as you can see. Fortunately, the leaked list of upcoming flagships shows Meizu will pack its MX7 and Pro 7 handsets with the Huawei Kirin 960 octa-core processor.
The Meizu MX7 and Pro 7 have been rumored to be released with Exynos 8890 CPU. Now when this list has been spotted, we can assume there will be two version for both handsets – one will sport Samsung’s latest processor, and the second one will be packed with Huawei’s Kirin CPU. The latter is a 16nm chipset paired with an A53 with the Artemis for six total cores, an eight-core GPU and a Category 12 LTE modem with CDMA support. But this not the best processor, and though in comparison with Qualcomm 820 the Kirin 960 acts quite well, its manufacturer has to work on power consumption. So even Meizu has made a step forward, but it should think on cooperating with the best supplier for the best CPUs. This is the only way to stay afloat.
