At the beginning of 2018, Charm Blue sub-brand launched its first full-screen smartphone, the Meizu M6S. It didn’t follow the common back fingerprint design, which is a mainstream in the market. Instead, it used side-type fingerprints. Probably customers liked this approach. As a result, it became a Single product sales champion. Following this, Charm Blue launched the Meizu E3, which continues using a full-screen and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Moreover, it came with impressive hardware, including a Snapdragon 636 SoC, a dual-camera with the Sony IMX362 + IMX350, etc. Thanks to these features, it achieved quite good sales as well. Now the question is, can the Meizu M6T improve the formula? let’s find out in this review.

On May 29, Charm Blue released the third phone of this year, the Meizu M6T. The machine adopts an 18:9 ratio screen design, equipped with an MT6750, and uses a rear fingerprint. Yes, no mistake, this is the first model of Charm Blue that comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint reader. In addition, it uses a 13MP dual-camera on the back. But what’s more important, it costs 799 yuan ($120) only.

In order to narrow the chin, the manufacturer has to remove the fingerprint scanner to the back. Instead of the mBack physical button, now there is a virtual circle that fully substitutes it.

The Meizu M6T uses a back panel made out of polycarbonate. This material is used widely. But the manufacturer uses coatings provided by the suppliers in the aviation automotive field to make the grip more delicate. The corners are rounded a lot. Plus, it weighs 145 grams only. Even users with very small palms can hold it easily.

Meizu is gradually switching to Qualcomm chips. But the Meizu M6T still uses a MediaTek MT6750. It’s a very popular SoC that can be found in tons of mid-range and low-end smartphones. This chipset uses an octa-core design with A53 architecture and a clock speed of1.5GHz. It also integrates the T860 MP2 GPU. The previous Charm Blue models in face of the M5 and M6 are using it as well. But this time, it will get a good optimization, undoubtedly. However, we have to state this is the main reason why the M6T costs 799 yuan.

Though the camera of this phone can’t be taken as a flagship module, it still provides great shooting experience if taking into account the price range it belongs to. The Meizu M6T is packed with a 13MP + 2MP dual-camera that uses a Sony IMX278 RGBW four-color sensor, which can add CMOS filter area to the color filter to make it receive more extraneous light to enhance dimming. Apart from the multi-frame noise reduction technology, it also preserves more dark details on the software level, enhancing the low-light photo experience.

The 13MP main camera is responsible for framing and focusing, while the 2MP camera is responsible for ranging, which brings hardware-level blurring, and can present a clear image with clear edges.

Daytime samples

The macro shooting performance is quite acceptable. It is capable of clearly distinguishing the details.

Nighttime samples

Surprisingly, the night shots are clear enough. Actually, the sensors get sufficient light to provide a relatively detailed imaging.
