Meizu M3 Max debuts with a 6-inch 1080p display and 4100mA…

Popular Chinese Android smartphone maker Meizu today announced the M3 Max, a new mid-range phablet with a huge 6-inch display. The M3 Max will take on Xiaomi’s Mi Max, ZTE Nubia Z11 Max, and the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro.

Most of you can probably tell quite easily that the M3 Max does look very similar to high-end smartphones from the manufacturer. The phablet is made out of metal with dual CNC processing, similar to most other new smartphones Meizu has launched this year. The front is dominated by a large 6-inch IPS display with 1080 x 1920 Full HD resolution display, boasting of 367PPI pixel density. While it may not sound too impressive, it is slightly higher than most of its rivals, thanks to the smaller display. Powering the Meizu M3 Max is MediaTek’s popular Helio P10 octa-core chipset, clocked at 1.8 GHz. At this point, Meizu is offering the M3 Max in just a single variant with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. The memory is expandable as well, thanks to a microSD card slot.

At the back, the M3 Max features a 13MP Sony IMX258 sensor, with phase detection autofocus tech, an f/2.2 aperture lens, and a dual-LED flash. On the front, the phablet is equipped with a 5MP selfie shooter. In terms of connectivity features, the M3 Max offers Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n dual-band, Bluetooth 4.1 Low Energy, GPS with GLONASS, and 4G LTE with VoLTE support. A fingerprint scanner is on offer too, embedded in the physical home button on the front. The battery inside is a 4100mAh unit, which comes with mCharge fast charging support. In terms of dimensions, the 163.4 x 81.6 x 7.94mm and weighs in at 189 grams. The phablet boots Meizu’s Flyme OS 5.2, which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.

The Meizu M3 Max will go on sale in China from September 15th, with pre-sale beginning September 12th. It will be available in four color options – Champagne Gold, Silver, Rose Gold, and Gray. As we mentioned earlier, there is only a single variant on offer for now, which is priced at 1699 Yuan ($254).
