Mobile chipset manufacturers are working on their new models for 2017 and we could see decent improvements from almost every manufacturer. Qualcomm is getting ready for high-end segment with Snapdragon 835, Samsung has its own Exynos 8995, MediaTek has Helio X35, but mid-range segment will also see new chipsets.
Both MediaTek and Qualcomm are working on two new mid-range chipsets – Helio P35 and Snapdragon 660. Those two chipsets will find ways into most mid-range phones, and we can’t wait to see first real benchmarks. Boths chipset have now emerged online, revealing possible specifications.
The Helio P35 is expected to be manufactured using TSMC’s 10nm process. Similar to the Helio X30, it will pack a deca-core processor, but with lower clocks. The Mali-G71 MP8 GPU is included, along with support for 2 x LPDDR4x RAM, UFS 2.1 storage, Cat. 10 modem and Pump Express 3.0 fast-charging technology.
As for the Snapdragon 660, the chipset will use a quad-core ARM Cortex A73 CPUs clocked at 2.2GHz and a quad-core ARM Cortex A53 CPUs clocked at 1.9 GHz, paired with Adreno 512 GPU, UFS 2.1 storage and 2 x LPDDR4 RAM at 1866 MHz. Unlike Helio P35, it will be manufactured using Samsung’s 14nm process.
