Lyft’s Round Up & Donate feature, which was introduced last month, is now going live. Beginning May 1, users will be given the option of rounding up their fare and donating their extra expense to charity.
The first beneficiary of the donation feature is the USO. Although each individual contribution is tiny, the donation figure could be quite high if a large number of people utilize the feature.
Riders will eventually be given the option of choosing between different charities, but for now everyone will be donating to the USO.
The USO was picked as part of Military Appreciation Month. Lyft is also committing $100,000 over the next year “to support service men and women with their transportation needs.”
