Earlier this year, the Motorola XT1662 had leaked online courtesy of a GFXBench benchmark listing. Last month, the smartphone was certified by TENAA in China, which is when we got our first glimpse at the handset’s design. Today, live images of the upcoming mid-ranger have been leaked online, confirming some of its key specs.
The Moto M is not going to be a global device, but will instead be launched only in China. With a metal build and decent hardware, the smartphone can prove to be quite successful in China, provided Lenovo prices it right. Let’s talk about the specs now.
Based on the info displayed on the screen in these images, the smartphone will feature 1080 x 1920 Full HD resolution display. While the display size hasn’t been mentioned, we do know from the TENAA listing that the smartphone will feature a 5.5-inch sized display. The pictured device also seems to pack 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. In the camera department, the smartphone apparently features a 16MP camera at the back and an 8MP selfie camera on the front. No surprises on the software front though, the handset runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. Since Motorola has a very impressive track record with Android updates in the past, it does seem possible that the Moto M could be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat a few weeks or months after it goes on sale in China.
The Moto M will also come with a rear mounted fingerprint scanner, MediaTek MT6755 octa-core SoC, and a 3000mAh capacity battery. However, there is still no info on when the smartphone will be released in China. Since the device has already received the green signal from China’s TENAA, Lenovo could decide to announce the smartphone soon. The Moto M should further strengthen Motorola’s mid-range lineup in China, the world’s largest smartphone market.
