Linksys has launched the next-gen WRT router – the WRT3200ACM. The Gigabit MU-MIMO Wi-Fi router features Tri-Stream 160 technology, making it the fastest dual band router available. The MU-MIMO technology allows it to provide simultaneous Wi-Fi connections to multiple devices at the same time.
While other home routers max out at 80 MHz channel width, the Tri-Stream 160 technology allows the WRT3200ACM to operate at 160 MHz channel width in the 5 GHz band, with Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) certification. It uses three streams at 160 MHz channel width to drive data at 867 Mbps per stream, which results in speeds of up to 2.6 Gbps, 2X faster compared to 1.3 Gbps speeds achieved by regular AC1900 routers such as Linksys’ own WRT1900ACS. The high throughput is also made possible thanks to the router’s enterprise-grade 1.8 GHz processor that packs enough computing power needed to handle even the heaviest network traffic and delivers the lowest latency. The range of ports include four Gigabit Ethernet ports, USB 3.0, and a eSATA/USB 2.0 combo port.
The WRT3200ACM has been built for a wide range of users from gamers to networking professionals and even for commercial applications. Advanced users will be able to further enhance the potential of the router by customizing with open source software, using OpenWrt and DD-WRT.
Home users can customize and manage their home Wi-Fi anytime and anywhere with the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi app. The app offers Guest Access, Parental Controls, Device Prioritization, and more from your smartphone or tablet.
The Linksys WRT3200ACM AC3200 MU-MIMO Gigabit Wi-Fi router carries a price tag of $249.99 in the US.
