Even before the LG G6’s official announcement, rumors about the company’s 2H flagship, the V30, have started to surface online. According to a rumor posted on Weibo earlier today, the phablet will be a pretty significant upgrade over the LG G6 in some areas.

The most significant change from the G6 will be the chipset under the hood. While the LG G6 is going to be powered by the older Snapdragon 821 SoC inside, the V30 is expected to be powered by the new Snapdragon 835 octa-core SoC, which is expected to be a major step up over the Snapdragon 821 in terms of performance as well as efficiency. The flagship mobile SoC will apparently be paired with 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM, which would be a decent upgrade over the 4GB of RAM found on the V20.

In the camera department, the LG V30 is rumored to feature a dual-camera setup both at the rear as well as front, which would make it LG’s first flagship smartphone with four camera sensors. The phablet will reportedly have some other new tricks up its sleeves, but no details have been provided yet.

The LG V30 is expected to be announced in the second half of 2017, possibly in the month of September, exactly a year after its predecessor went official. Unlike last year, LG will most probably not find it easy this year to lure consumers, as rival Samsung will make sure that its Galaxy Note 8 dominates the flagship phablet segment this year.
