LG has introduced two new pixel dense displays designed for Apple’s new MacBook and MacBook Pro models.
The 27-inch UltraFine 5K monitor has been optimized for the new MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt 3 running macOS 10.12 and later. With a resolution of 5120 x 2880, the display boasts of a high pixel density of 218 pixels per inch and is claimed to cover 99 percent of the P3 color space. Thanks to advanced IPS display technology, you can look forward to minimal color shift and color loss even from extreme viewing angles. In addition to Thunderbolt 3, the monitor also comes with three downstream USB Type-C ports for additional connectivity. There are no physical buttons on the display, as the seamless macOS integration lets you control brightness and volume directly from your MacBook.
The 21.5-inch UltraFine 4K display on the other hand offers 4096 x 2304 resolution, resulting in a pixel density of 219 pixels per inch. While it may be smaller than the UltraFine 5K display in terms of size, it still covers 99 percent of the P3 color spectrum, boasting of vibrant brightness levels and excellent viewing angles thanks to the IPS technology. For connectivity, the display offers three downstream USB Type-C and Thunderbolt 3. A high-quality Rich Bass speaker has been integrated as well, along with an adjustable stand for enhanced ergonomics.
The LG 21.5-inch UltraFine 4K display is going to go on sale starting November, while the 27-inch UltraFine 5K display will begin shipping in early December in the United States.
