LG G6 to release on March 10, suggests Korean report

Backing a recent report that claimed the LG G6 could be released in March, a new report out of Korea claims LG could announce the G6 on February 26th, a day before the Mobile World Congress 2017 kicks off in Barcelona.

While LG’s South Korean rival Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S8 only in April this year, the G6 will apparently be released in Korea on March 10th, roughly two weeks after its official announcement in Barcelona. The global release will most likely happen before March-end, which could mean that the LG G6 will be available in stores even before Samsung officially announces the Galaxy S8 at its dedicated event in New York City.

Things were quite different last year, as both Samsung and LG introduced their flagship smartphones at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. While the two companies announced their flagships on the same day, Samsung beat LG by releasing the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge on March 11th, with the G5 going on sale only on March 31.

The LG G6 is expected to feature a design very similar to the G5, but without the modular design theme that it adopted with the G5. It will also come with a glass back, which will allow it to support wireless charging. Other rumored highlights include dust and water resistance, a dual-camera setup, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, and a Quad HD resolution display.
