LG G6 official MWC event invite teases a large yet compact…

The LG G6 has a lot riding it, with the G5 failing to make its mark with consumers and critics alike. Rumors and leaks have suggested the Korean manufacturer is making radical changes to its flagship line with the G6, including shifting to a glass build (with water resistance) and doing away with a removable battery. LG had revealed that the G6 would go official on February 26th, and it has released a new teaser today that suggests the G6 will feature a display that will offer a big-screen viewing experience while being easy to operate with one hand.

With Samsung’s Galaxy S8 also set to offer a large screen in a compact body, it is interesting to see LG teasing something similar. It has been known that the G6′ display will be longer than usual with a resolution of 1440×2880 pixels, and the teaser seems to confirm the same. Furthermore, recently leaked G6 renders had also showcased minimal bezel on the sides, which is also something the teaser could be pointing at. The LG G6 won’t, however, feature a curved display, so the Galaxy S8 will continue to be more attractive to consumers looking for a visually appealing design. The teaser doesn’t offer any other details, but many of the G6’s features have been revealed by leaks in recent weeks.

The LG G6 is expected to come with a 5.7-inch display, a Snapdragon 821 processor, at least 4GB of RAM, a USB Type-C port, water and dust resistance, wireless charging, and high-quality audio. Dual rear cameras will make a return in addition to a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, but modularity is being given the boot thanks to the lukewarm response it received on the LG G5. It is likely that LG will offer more snippets of the G6’s features in the coming days, before the company shows us what it has in store at the pre-MWC event.
