LG G6 may not come with a removable battery

241

Remember how LG trolled Samsung earlier this year for using non-removable batteries on its flagship smartphones? Well, according to a new rumor, LG is going to do away with the removable-battery design with its 2017 flagship, the G6. The 3.5mm headphone jack on the other hand, will be retained apparently.

The move will probably not have much of an affect though, as most flagship smartphones nowadays come with sealed batteries. However, for the small number of power users, it certainly is bad news as LG was one of the last remaining smartphone makers to offer removable batteries on its flagship handsets.

In addition to that, the LG G6 could also use a highly reflective metallic material on the back, giving it the appearance of an all-glass device. While it is anybody’s guess at this point as to what material LG will be using, we do hope that the G6 will not end up being a disappointment in the build quality department. The LG G5, despite featuring a “metal build” proved to be a major disappointment in terms of both design and build quality, although the V20 is definitely a marked improvement when it comes to build quality.

Previous rumors have suggested that the LG G6 could be the first smartphone from the South Korean manufacturer to support wireless charging. It is also expected to feature dust and water resistance, another feature that LG has so far not integrated on its flagship handsets. Under the hood, the G6 will most probably run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core chipset, which should power pretty much all major Android flagship smartphones coming out next year.
