awesome!! but a few notes,
First, let me say that this computer is rock solid, quiet and very well made. It really is a steal.
Having said that:
there is a few things that I would like to touch on.
1. The UEFI “bios” on this computer is set up weird in my opinion. It has a compatibility mode, which is good so that you can boot an OS that requires old fashioned bios. the weird thing to me is that they set the option to “first try legacy (old style os), then try to boot UEFI”. this is a really weird choice in my book. If you boot a windows DVD, it has both on there. In this mode, it will see an old school os and boot that and install that, never looking to see that this DVD also has UEFI.
the fix is easy though… just hit F1, and choose to look first for UEFI, then legacy… not such a big problem really just a gripe i guess.
2. The power connector. Lenovo has chosen for the thinkserver and thinkcenter line to use a 14 pin connector to the motherboard. Yes you heard me correctly. not 20 pin, not 24 – 14. This is not a problem if you do not plan on upgrading the power supply. If you do, you will need to do a search on Lenovo 24 pin to 14 pin adapter. there is a company who makes these. They are $15 so not a deal breaker, but a weird choice in my opinion.
3. ecc ram. It does come with ecc ram. let me just say that up front. what is strange to me is the fact that in “bios”, there is no option to see that the motherboard knows that ecc ram is installed, no option to turn ecc on or off… no mention of ecc in any way shape or form. I trust that the computer knows the ram is ecc i guess… just would be nice for it to be listed as such in computer information or somewhere…
These are my few small gripes about this computer. Having said that, I would buy this computer again in a heart beat. I am really happy with it. It is a really solid computer at a super great price. I love my lenovo 🙂
