China-based LeEco has announced it will enter the US market with products including LCD TVs, smartphones, virtual reality products, cars and bicycles and the company’s entry is expected to benefit its supply chain partners including Taiwan-based Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry), Amtran, Compal Electronics, Pegatron Technology and MediaTek, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report.
LeEco announced it will acquire the Vizio brand from Amtran at the end of July, but has declined to comment further on the deal as the transaction has not yet completed. However, the company will push both Vizio- and LeEco-branded TVs in the US market, said company president Liang Jun.
Liang pointed out that Samsung Electronics is the largest LCD TV vendor in the US with a 30% market share. and LeEco’s goal is to surpass Samsung to become the largest. LeEco will also push new digital content development to help promote its LCD TV business in the US.
In addition to its plants in China, LeEco is also considering building new plants overseas to accelerate its shipments and supply chain.
