Since Snapdragon 820, Qualcomm has switched back from using ARM’s Cortex cores to its own Kryo cores due to various issues. The Kryo cores are very powerful and ARM is now trying to catch up with the new Cortex processor and Mali graphics designs.
VideoCardz has now published a set of leaked slides, providing us with some details about the new designs. According to slides, the Cortex-A75 will be 20% more powerful compared to the Cortex-A73, while having the same power consumption.
The biggest improvement is to the Cortex-A55, which is allegedly two times faster and 15% more efficient than the current gen Cortex-A53 and will support a cluster of eight cores.
Regarding the Mali-G72, ARM says it offers up to a 40 percent overall performance boost, 25 percent higher energy efficiency, and 20 percent better performance density.
Also mentioned is the new DynamIQ big.LITTLE technology, which allows the cores to configured in a much more efficient configuration. The official announcement is allegedly scheduled for Monday, so stay tuned.
