Travis Kalanick is not going to return to Uber as the ridehailing company’s CEO, says co-founder Garrett Camp. He says the company believes it’s time for a “new chapter” and that chapter will be led by someone other than Kalanick. This comes after some Uber employees petitioned for his return and after Kalanick himself allegedly claimed he was going to control the company again.
Our CEO search is the board’s top priority. It’s time for a new chapter, and the right leader for our next phase of growth. Despite rumors I’m sure you’ve seen in the news, Travis is not returning as CEO. We are committed to hiring a new world-class CEO to lead Uber. – Camp
What this statement doesn’t rule out is a return of Kalanick in some form to Uber. But it does strongly go against reports of him returning as CEO.
