Jumper EZBook 3 Pro Review: What ‘Pro’ Stands For?

236

Jumper’s products are very popular among those who prefer to acquire cheap laptops and tablets with a stylish look and acceptable performance. The special line of this company concerning laptops dubbed as EZBook. Once a new product from this series is out, we take our hands on it and come in with an in-detail review. The same case was with the Jumper EZBook 2 as well as the Jumper EZBook 3. The latter is one of the best products available in the market. Probably this fact has made the company to design a couple of enhanced versions of it. I mean there is also the Jumper EZBook 3S sporting better features than the original one. As for now, we are going to introduce you the Jumper EZBook 3 Pro. As the names suggests, this is the professional variant of the original Jumper EZBook 3. Therefore it should come in with enhanced features and performance.

Though we are focusing on the Jumper EZBook 3 Pro, it’ll be better to recall the key features of those two models as well. The EZBook 3 sports a 14.1-inch screen, Celeron N3350 chip, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal memory; the EZBook 3S is packed with a 14.1-inch screen, Celeron N3450 chip, 6GB of RAM, and 256GB of internal storage; and the EZBook 3 Pro is equipped with a 13.3-inch screen, Celeron N3450 chip, 6GB of RAM, and 64GB of ROM. As you see, the most attractive model from these thee is the 3S. But it’s pricing exceeds $300. In this sense, the EZBook 3 and 3 Pro are more affordable. So let’s figure out whether the ‘Pro’ stands for Professional or it’s a trick.

  • OS: Windows 10 Home
  • CPU: Intel Celeron N3450 (Apollo Lake)
  • RAM: 6 GB
  • Storage: 64GB eMMC
  • Display: 13.3 inches, IPS (1,920 x 1,080)
  • Network: 802.11 b / g / n, Bluetooth 4.0
  • Interfaces: USB 3.0 x 2, mini HDMI, audio, microSD, DC-IN
  • Battery: 9600mAh
  • Dimensions: 310x200x13mm / 1.44 kg

Looking at the features we can claim Celeron N3450 chip paired with a 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory is becoming standard for Chinese laptops. There are many products with the same specs – Chuwi Lapbook 14.1, CIVILTOP Air, Onda xiaoma 41, etc.

As for the display, it differs from the EZBook series. Agree, we haven’t seen 13.3-inch devices belonging to this family yet. Moreover, it comes with an IPS matrix at Full HD resolution, while the EZBook 3’s screen is though not to be so. At last, as the size has got smaller, the quality is improved.

The manufacturer has made some changes in the interfaces as well. Now you can find two USB 3.0 ports unlike the original model that comes with one USB 3.0 port.

Like other models the Jumper EZBook 3 Pro comes with a humble packaging including only the most necessary accessories such as the AC adapter, manual, and a certificate claiming this product has passed a number of tests.

This is the case when can say the housing is made of metal (aluminum). And though it looks identical to the original EZBook 3, the feeling when holding this device is more pleasant. I mean when we take our hands on a laptop made of plastic, it gives a feeling of a cheap and low-quality product. So metal also gives an aesthetic pleasure.

The right side carries a miniHDMI, USB 3.0, DC-IN ports and a small LED indicator that lights up when the power supply is connected.

The left side comes with a 3.5mm audio jack, microSD card slot and another USB 3.0 port.

The front side has a ‘dent of clue’ to open the laptop easier. However, this shot also shows the edges come with a diamond cut.

Nothing on the back interesting to us.

The bottom side is made of aluminum as well. There are 4 rubber feet to make the laptop stand a bit higher from the surface. Two speakers are located on right and left sides.  Finally, there are 10 screws to remove the bottom panel.

The Jumper EZBook 3 Pro’s keyboard is identical to other products from the same niche. Totally there are 78 key. Seems all of them are useful. But we were surprised not finding PrtScr key. On the other hand, it’s not used frequently.

The keys are made of plastic. They are the acceptable height and you’ll not get tired when typing for a long time.

At last, you can take a peek at the maximum angle it can hinge.

As we said, this product comes with a smaller display at only 13.3 inches. But for a regular user it wouldn’t affect the viewing experience. Moreover, the Jumper EZBook 3 Pro sports an IPS display, which provides better color reproduction as well as good viewing angle. Moreover, the brightness is at the highest level, and you can even decrease it, if you want. So we can state the display of this laptop is a head higher than what we have seen on the Jumper EZBook 3.

Speakers on such devices don’t satisfy, mostly. But seems this is not the case. Though the Jumper EZBook 3 Pro’s speakers can’t compare with an audio equipment, they still provide acceptable sound performance.

Jumper EZBook 3 Pro

As for battery, we have one at 9600mAh capacity. To understand what this means for a 13.3-inch laptop we tested it setting the brightness at 50%. We launched a browser and played music in the background. During an hour we were typing in a text editor. Thus we imagined as we are writing a review or doing homework (for students, especially). The power consumption was 14%. So the laptop will allow you to use it for 6 hours on a single charge.

Jumper EZBook 3 Pro

Let’s ignore the camera, as it is the biggest shortcoming of this device.

Finally, the Jumper EZBook 3 Pro is packed with a Celeron N3450 (Apollo Lake) chip, which is also paired with a 6GB of RAMand 64GB of eMMC internal memory. Seems 6GB of RAM shouldn’t be enough for a laptop, but when we were using it heavily the CPU usage level didn’t pass 70%. This means it’s not only matter of a RAM, but the chip and internal memory as well. Moreover, when the chip was tested via ‘Dragon Quest X Benchmark’, we got 1965 scores. This is not the best performance of this processor, as we have seen 2562 scores on the Altair VH-AD3 or 2288 on Chuwi Hi13. But on the other hand, this performance is better than what the chip shows on the VOYO VBook A1 (1867 scores), Onda Xiaoma 41 (1842 scores) or Chuwi Lapbook 14.1 (1835 scores).

Jumper EZBook 3 Pro

  • 13.3-inch Full HD Display
  • Metal Housing
  • Large Memory
  • Apollo Lake Processor
  • Good Performance
  • Good Sound
  • Windows 10
  • Cheap Price
  • Camera
  • eMMC Internal Storage

So the first thing we can say as a conclusion refers to the question asked in the title – what ‘Pro’ stands for in this product? Now I can say for sure it doesn’t mean Professional. Thus the Jumper EZBook 3 Pro is not the enhanced variant of the original EZBook 3. To clarify why the manufacturer has come with a new product from the same line we have to recall Apple’s MacBook series. As you know, Apple MacBook series is roughly divided into 3 lines. Each of them comes with a different design. The original Apple MacBook sports a 12-inch LCD display, thin housing and a USB Type-C port. The MacBook Air is packed with an 11- or 13-inch LCD display with no Retina technology and it comes with a good old design all we are familiar with. Finally, there is a MacBook Pro coming with a 13- or 15-inch LCD display designed like a uniform plate. THE JUMPER EZBOOK 3 PRO IMITATES THE MACBOOK PRO.
