Is OLED finally coming towards Desktop PC usage as a monitor in good volume? Well, Joled, a joint venture between Japan Display, Panasonic and Sony are showing OLED panels for monitors at a Japanese fair. The displays are two small 21.6-inch models and one 27-inch panel.
The smaller screens are 1080p and 2160p respectively, while the larger model is only implemented with ultra-high resolution. The full-HD version is explicitly developed for gamers. OLED technology offers significantly faster switching times than TN, which is welcome in the gaming sector., we’re talking the 0.1 ms realm here.
The Ultra HD panel at 3,840×2,160 instead of 1,920×1,080 pixels will get installed in the Asus Proart PQ22UC and capable of a 120Hz refresh rate. It can reproduce 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. According to JOLED the monitor is “soon” to be delivered – for several thousand euros, the professional model. This monitor is not intended for PC gamers.
